About: Author and financial self-defense expert Hollis Colquhoun worked for 20 years as an institutional trader and salesperson on Wall Street. After her divorce, Hollis became an Accredited Financial Counselor, Money-Management Workshop Coordinator and Certified Personal Finance Counselor for a national nonprofit credit counseling agency. In that position she conducted workshops for New Jersey State welfare-to-work programs and provided financial counseling to thousands of clients nationwide.
As a result of her counseling experience, Hollis co-authored the Amazon Bestseller, Women Empowering Themselves: A Financial Survival Guide, which recently won two 2011 National Indie Excellence Book Awards. Hollis has presented her Financial Education & Survival Training (F.E.S.T.) workshops to the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners and was a National Association of Women Business Owners S.E.E.D. Competition Finalist for Central New Jersey.
Hollis is especially passionate about financially educating and empowering women. Her book, programs and counseling are designed to teach women financial basics and to instill in them the confidence to shape their financial future. Hollis, who holds black belts in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, uses martial arts principles to teach women how to protect themselves personally as well as financially.
A dynamic public speaker, workshop presenter, personal finance columnist and martial artist, Hollis works one-on-one and through business, community and nonprofit organizations to provide financial education and credit counseling to women in particular and to adults of all ages. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Kenyon College.
